Aloha! My name is Jennifer Strattan and this will be my twenty-sixth year teaching at Solvang School, though I have been involved in education for over thirty-five years. I started the first Just Say No organization under Nancy Reagan for the state of Hawaii back in the 1980s, as well as traveled throughout the state lecturing and teaching workshops for both teachers and students. I was a substitute teacher in Hawaii and California, a daycare teacher in Dana Point, a special education tutor at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, and a special education assistant for Capistrano Unified School District. Here at Solvang School, I have taught grades 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton, and both my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential and Master of Arts degree in Education from Chapman University. It was my dream to become a teacher so that children would realize that learning is attainable to everyone, regardless of what one might perceive as their limitations. I hold high expectations for my students and encourage positive attitudes and behavior. My two classroom rules are: work hard and be kind. From there, we can do anything.
Communication is a very important part of success for all involved. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Working together, in partnership, builds a positive and successful foundation for our children.
